Bible Literacy

He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:44 and 31)
I read this in my morning reading (based on a Bible reading plan). So I think God has a message for us.

Jesus is telling us that if we want to be free and be sons and daughters of God, we need to know His/the Fathers teachings and live by it; and not follow the lies (blatant lies or twisted truth) of satan, like the Pharisees did (31-47).

Reading social media and our postings is not enough to know His teachings. They are appetizers or snacks. As you can’t live on a bag of chips or a slab of chocolate, so you cant live on postings.

We have to read the Bible a lot, think and pray about it, study it, and live it. That will protect us against lies and set us truly free.

There are lots of Bible reading plans out there. I advise you to use one. We have included some plans below. And hold each other accountable for really reading at least once daily; encourage each other; make it a habit; set your best time aside for it. You will discover that the Lord talks to you about every situation of your life. Once you get into it, His Word is truly fantastic!
